I am considering suggesting to my girlfriend of 1.5 years that we try a more open, casual relationship. We are long distance and see each other anywhere from a couple of days every 2-3 weeks, to longer stays of maybe a week.

We are having a lot of problems and will likely split up soon. The details aren't too important - yes this girl is my oneitis, I've known her for 10 years and would like to keep her in the picture. I have told her I'm not interested in continuing as friends but we both want different things for now and are struggling to come to terms with that.

Does anyone have experience going more casual with a LTR? It's painful to think of her with other people, but I would obviously like to have sex and other romantic activities more frequently than I am.

A lot of our fights are about how little we see each other, and are mainly instigated by me. I need physical contact more than once every 2 weeks, I'm 29 years old. I think seeing other people would take a lot of pressure off us both but I'm honestly not sure if I could cope with the reality of it.
