you can fake shoes and you can fake watches because only the real know

IE: most guys say they are in to watches but the vast majority aren't actually in to watches. That means if it looks like it's a nice watch, most people will assume it is a nice watch.

Same with shoes. If they look good, most people will assume they are good, because few actually are in to it enough to know.

Now if you happen to work at a place where they will know, then you do have to splurge if you want to impress. Know you audience.

I have no idea what "most important thing people look at at the workplace" means though. Do you want to get a date with your coworker or something?

The best thing you can do for your looks is lifting.

It can help, of course, but it’s not going to dramatically change anything - just boost what you have going.

I wear a Movado watch. It was like $500 but people think it’s a $10,000 watch because they know I could afford a $10k watch. Does that make sense?

Shoes - I’m big into quantity over quality, because contrary to belief one pair rarely outlasts another and a $50 pair is rarely distinguished from a $500 pair unless you look inside. I have 5 pairs of loafers, all different colors, for example. Picking the right shoes with your outfit is important. If you’re wearing burgundy chinos then maybe you’ll wear brown suede loafers.

No more important to have your outfit just overall flow well. Example: do your shoes match your belt? Does your shirt go with your pants?

Most people won’t care enough to know shoe and watch brands
