Is "acting" beta instead of just dumping someone really just acting? Wouldn't an alpha just straight up fade away or dump?

There are many ways to leave your lovers; I personally recommend doing it as gently as possible, particularly when the person didn't do anything wrong in a shitty way.

Use this as an opportunity to practice assertiveness and holding frame. Be open with her about your relationship boundaries and limits, and enforce them mainly with actions, not words.

Acting super-beta is recommended in extreme cases, like where she's threatened to make a false accusation if you drop her, or the Tom Leykis Hail Mary maneuver. In your case, a clarification of her place in your life, and decisive break-up if needed, is better than playing games.
