Well, i've read that it's not really at the person they want to bang, but the person they like most (including same-sex friends) or a new person they want to get to know better (which could or not be the local alpha).

I've personally seen how girls usually laugh and stare at their closest girlfriend rather than the guy they'll bang that night.
