This isn’t really a post about sexual strategy or anything, I’m just in a tough situation and would really appreciate any advice possible. It’s a bit of a rant.

I’m 21 and going into my senior year of college. I’m applying to medical schools right now. If I get in, I’ll have to take out loans to pay for it. My parents will thankfully co-sign for the loans and pay for my rent and necessities in that time which I’m grateful for.

Here’s the issue: my parents are very emotionally abusive and it’s beginning to take its toll on me. I get told to shut up when I voice an opinion different to theirs, called a dumbass if I struggle with anything, I’m blamed for most issues in their lives, and if there’s ever a disagreement I often get called a “useless worthless piece of shit”.

I could deal with this perfectly fine if I didn’t depend on them, but with loans and waiting another 5 years till I get my own salary plus living with them during breaks, I’m not sure what to do. I’ve tried talking to them about how this affects me, but they just freak out and call me disrespectful and unappreciative. I’ve tried isolating myself a bit, and they say I don’t love them. I’ve told them how it hurts me and the relationship between us, they say that’s my issue not theirs and say I’m threatening them. Also I’ve brought up therapy and that gets shot down immediately.

My parents are from a different country but are successful here and have provided a great life for me overall and made huge sacrifices for me, but this is still extreme. My parents are supposed to be some of the few people I can really trust, but with all this I’m really losing hope in ever having a genuine relationship with someone.

Honestly, is there anything I can do at this point?
