In order to change your social status, you need to do the opposite of what you are telling your clients.

All money in the market is made by being a contrarian. If you want to make 6% a year for 40 years, have it, swallow their pill and pay those sweet fees on index and mutual funds. It is after all, what the game is all about right?

At your age, study charts and learn how micro-caps work. Not penny stocks, but micro caps. Tutes can't go in there because they are below $5 and the volume is too thin. Practice a bit, by making trades with live money, then learn what works and then do nothing. You wait.

I'll say this once. All of the money is made in the waiting. All of it. Its not made trading, swinging, or hedging. Its sitting around waiting for your move. And don't read the news. Pick your trade and ignore the media. Stop your 401(k) and build up $10K worth of ammo in a ROTH (401k's are horribly correlated and 98% of the time don't have a self directed option). Once you have the $10K, turn the 401(k) back on.

And when you finally get the fat pitch you've been waiting for, bet it all. And I mean all of it. You are young enough to take on this risk, in fact you can do this all the way until you are 35 or so and still be fine.

You need a couple of 3-7 baggers under your belt by the time you are 40 to make a difference in life.

You're young, take on risky stocks. Put money in emerging market funds. Do a ton of research on various stocks and pick and choose. I like healthcare
