Hi Asktrp. Some background: 25, 6ft3, slim/lead build. Year long LTR recently ended, done being down over it, been throwing myself back into being single and getting on with my life. Lifting regularly since 8 months or so, in monk mode I suppose but always trying to improve myself socially and with women, especially the last 2-3 weeks since I snapped out of the oneitis. Been using online dating (which I have always had a moderate degree of success with, got a few bangs from it), messaging a few girls and arranging to meet one in a week or so. My weak spot however, has always been approaching women IRL. Just struggle having the gall to walk up and strike up a conversation out of nowhere. I made a conscious effort to change that yesterday and would appreciate feedback!

In short: passed a cute little thing at the train station, thought I should have approached her, didn't do it. She sat down on a nearby bench as we passed as if to invite me to approach. Eye contact was made, that was it. Turned round a few steps later and she'd gotten up and left (confirming my previous thought). Came back out for a smoke and she was there again. Not wanting to miss the opportunity I went over and asked her for a lighter, sat down and struck up a conversation. Seemed to go pretty well, made some jokes, asked her about herself, did my best to be humorous and slightly cocky, project confident body language. She was meeting a friend, some guy, who arrived a few minutes later, I go "so you wanna hang out sometime or?" and she gives me her number, say she's going home tomorrow (today) but will be back in a couple of weeks. Says nice meeting you, we part ways. I wait until this morning to send a text saying hi, nice to meet you etc. (She asked me to call her phone there and then which confirmed it wasn't a fake).

I got a real buzz doing that and felt like I took a big step forward, as I've always been too shook to really approach a chick out of nowhere like that with the intent of having a conversation/getting a number. How do you think I did based off the description? Should I have pushed to meet up again later that day? I'm still trying to find the right balance of seeming interested but not too interested. Even if nothing comes of it, I still think I should be proud of myself for taking that step and try to keep the positive feedback loop going. I know pretty much all women are dying to be approached so I hope I stood out in that regard and made some impression.

Any advice, feedback appreciated. Could I have done it better?
