I worked this morning with 2 girls who are very close and tight knit with eachother. One is 21 and another is 27. We’ll call the 21 year old Jamie and the 27 year old Avery. To put things into perspective for those who have not worked in a restaurant, when you finish up there is still additional stuff that needs to be done. This stuff is called “sidework.” This can include polishing wine glasses, ironing tablecloths, and rolling silverware. We had a lot of stuff to do since we were very busy. I did sidework such as sweep, mop, and stock beer in our refridgerators. Avery and Jamie rolled silverware. I went to a storage unit on the other side of the restaurant where we keep our fruit. Avery and Jamie had already clocked out and left me the rest of the silverware to roll. Then I got back and one of our managers (Brady) explained to me what happened. He heard them say they were going to leave some for me because “KodiakKing23 hasn’t rolled any silverware yet.” Brady agreed with me that this was complete BS considering the fact that I was doing other stuff and they hadn’t asked me to finish the rest of the silverware (I would’ve). I’m thinking about confronting Avery tomorrow and telling her that she can’t just do stuff like that but I feel like that might be a slight overreaction.
