OP, I share your views in regards to having an emotional bond with a woman in order to feel attracted to her; being in a LTR myself I've felt that knowing that if the relationship ends I can find another high quality female to be with, puts me in a position of power which I suppose is because of my abundance mentality (even though I'm not pursuing other girls).
