How has lifting improved your life?

Confidence, strength, and aesthetics. I look in the mirror and instead of picking out all the things I don’t like about my body, I can confidently go about my day. I do see room for improvement and slacking muscle groups when I glance, but that’s different than being shameful.

The only “downside” is I occasionally get distracted driving because I like to look at my arms a lot and throughout the day I will feel my pecs up a lot.

The thirsty looks from women is pretty great too. I like them to look at me like I’m a piece of meat. It strokes my ego and appeals to my animalistic desires. Because I know what they’re thinking.

I will say, I constantly wish I started going to the gym when I first started becoming interested in bodybuilding, back in 2008. In fact, this is something I tend to think about almost daily. Instead, I was too afraid and I let that cripple me for far too long. I didn’t start hitting the gym until 2012.

If there’s one thing I regret in life it’s letting the anxiety of bettering myself and being in front of other people beat me down. Because I grew up skinny, I was always afraid of displaying any physical activity in front of others. Whenever I did, it only led to embarrassment. That stuck with me until I started building muscle.

While it’s something that I keep in mind, I’m not too obsessed about being alpha, but a man who lifts and has done enough lifting that it shows looks alpha to me. A man should look like a man. In order to look like a man, you need to lift.

Now I look at the mirror and I see a man. And that makes me extremely proud. I put in so much work to achieve the physique that I have.

I remember growing up and admiring that in others. Even the guys my own age. There’s a different feeling you get around guys who lift that you don’t really see in the ones that don’t. A sort of respect for them, because in terms of physique, they look dominant, strong, and masculine.

I used that for inspiration when I started, and I still look at that today for motivation to continue to improve. The only reason I am even online half the time - aside from shit posting here - is for fitness related content, workout routines, nutritional information, general discussions, quality video content, articles, etc.

The gym has become a staple in my day to day life. I look forward to it the most. Its my primary hobby. I don’t need motivation to get myself into the gym. It’s something that I just want to do. It’s a place I better myself and unwind and unleash stress in a healthy outlet. I have fun there. There’s nothing more relieving than pumping iron and letting that absorb the grind you put in day to day...

If I ever get married and have children, it will be something I make my son start early in life. I will ensure that he grows strong and is never shameful about his body the way that I was. He will be required to exert himself in the gym.

I work 7 - 12 hr nightshifts in a row. I go to the gym in the am after my shift every single day. Does it suck? Sometimes. Embrace the suck.

Why lift?....

Lifting gives you a body that is attractive to the vast majority of women out there. Would you rather be attractive or unattractive? Would you rather date/fuck an attractive woman or an unattractive one? Two twin girls - one is average, the other looks toned and fit. Otherwise identical. Who do you pick?

There's a reason every question about what women view as sexy on a man, the top answer is always rolling up the shirtsleeves to reveal big defined forearms.

I love the physical presence of usually being the biggest baddest motherfucker in the room. Instant alpha status without saying a word.

Being in a gym with other huge beasts gives you a sense of humility and brotherhood.

Strive to be a better man than you were yesterday. Then tomorrow strive to be better. "The only easy day was yesterday". Having a concrete goal and striving toward it gives you the power to believe in yourself. Seeing those lift numbers go up, the belly fat disappear, the increase in girls that literally have to touch your arms/shoulders/abs (swolestation) all allow you to view progress.

Lifting is not just about getting jacked. Lifting is a discipline.

Getting up early, going to the gym when you really would rather lie in bed next to a naked sweaty girl takes discipline. Putting the donut down takes discipline.

If you're jacked, you can't help but show that you have complete control over at least one aspect of your life. This control and discipline bleeds into your personality. You actually become a more confident, self-assured person. That's the kind of guy women want.

Lifting using large muscle groups increases testosterone.

Losing fat increases testosterone which will directly improve your game.

There are virtually no fat fuck 70 year olds waddling around. Why? They're dead of heart disease/diabeetus/liver failure from abusing their bodies for 40 years. Keeping your body in great shape pays dividends in the future. There are multiple older guys at my gym that are still vital and loving life, not cruising down the aisle in Walmart on a sad scooter leaving a trail of Dorito crumbs. I want to be that horny vital 70 year old that still has a twinkle in his eye. Way better than dead.

Going to the gym is my pilgrimage. It's not home, it's not work. Nobody has any control on my time but me. The iron church.

If you're stressing about something, I guarantee you won't even be thinking about it during a non-fuckarounditis workout.

It increases your sexual stamina. Want to pound a girl until she can't take anymore? Good luck if you're an out-of-shape neckbeard.

Want to throw a girl over your shoulder and carry her upstairs to the bedroom, her squirming as you slap her ass? You need to be strong.

I have no issues with body image. I love the way I look. I MADE dis. I like pulling off my shirt at the beach with pride, not self-loathing and fear someone will point out my enormous moobs.

Angry? Use it as fuel. Burn it.

Lifting releases endorphins. I feel AMAZING after a good workout.

when I bulked up people literally started treating me differently from the point I removed my shirt after returning from college onwards

I was no longer the invisible guy but the guy dudes want to do high fives with, ask me opinions on workout stuff, and girls smile when I gaze at them

that waned after I got injured, pretty quickly but it also gets you a lot of pitty, from everyone including parents, professors, friends and people who saw you a couple of times and remember you even though you don't remember them

you will get conversations from people you don't know starting with "what happened to you?"

the longest effect I had is becoming misanthropic and hating the guts out of this species who is nothing but visual disgusting animals who don't give a shit about who or what you are and that your visuals are 100% what you are to other people, you might think this happened after I lost the benefits but you are wrong, it started the moment I was the center of attention of the whole complex simply for being the most aesthetic guy in the room.

the only nawalts and namalts are the autists, sociopaths, geniouses, schizoid people and other marginal groups whose brains work very differently

Hugely.

Tasks most guys, (people) find difficult are trivial.

Discipline rebuilds you in ways you can't believe.

Higher T will change you. You'll feel and be smarter, risk acceptant, and more attractive.

Never feel shame looking at your body in the mirror.

Humility. There's always a bigger better guy. Guess what, most of the time he's a friend in waiting if you conduct yourself properly.

Swolesting. Yeah I love that shit, except from fatties.

It just changed so many things, I'm glad I started early.

It taught me that you cannot shortcut your way to success, to acheive greatness you must work consistenly and efficiently over extended time, there is no other way. You must put in the work.

Trying and failing at the gym for many years instilled this ethic into me, and it has carried over into the rest of my life.
