How important is shaking with hands

I shake men and women differently. With men i have a fairly strong classical handshake while with women I'm twisting my palm a little bit upwards and i grab their hand in my palm while putting my thumb firmly on the back of her hand, but the overall grip is a lot lighter. I think this is fairly common sense and that's how I've always done it. Also eye contact!

I never shake hands with people whom I know well. NEVER.

*EDIT: I usually keep the same grip with women but I do change my grip with men. 1) I usually feel their handshake first. If they go for a death grip, I will respond. If they give me a soft spaghetti I will shake their hand like do with women. 2) I look at their hands to get an indication what the handshake is gonna be. A loud guy with big strong hands usually mean the grip is gonna be more energetic and tighter; and vice versa. Always mirror.

Another quick thing is be close enough when you shake hands so that you'll have a good straight posture. Shaking hand from too far makes you bend over which reduces your height in general and makes you look like a beggar.

I'ts a lot of words for a handshake and all this should come naturally but I'm just laying it out.
