I have a couple questions about fraternities that I hope you don't mind answering.

What's the process like? At my school they take a picture of you, you fill out a form, and then just go talk to as many people as possile.

But how do they choose future pledgees? Do they just say all the 700+ names and if people remember you you make it to the next round? Do they care about looks(only ask because im better looking than 90% of guys in frats and want to know if it would help my chances)? How many events do you have to go to? How can I be more memorable? I tried this technique to try to get brothers to rememer me: At the end of our conversation I'd ask them if they remembered my name and if they didn't I'd tell them "call me by my nickname Fabio like the guy who rides a white horse and does butter commercials ". Most of them would just laugh and say "ok Fabio" or "oh that's easy to remember". While that is my nickname at my job I'm afraid they'll think it isn't and that I'm just trying to get them to remember me. What do you think?

Usually they'll pull your Facebook profile up on a big screen after rush week. If anyone remembers you as somebody they might want to be friends with they'll say "Yeah that guy pulls; throw him a bid." Otherwise everyone in the room will laugh and yell "fuck that kid" and they move on to the next guy on the list.

To get in a frat they only thing you have to know is DO NOT BE WEIRD. When you go to a rush event, do not try to dress like a frat star but don't dress like bum (avoid the alternative-hipster look also). Be sociable and friendly but don't come across as arrogant and if you talk about yourself, don't brag. Above all, don't talk about how much you can drink or have drunk in the past. Chat about stereotypically masculine things that the brothers can relate to: sports, beer, cars, hunting, music.
