Hey TRP, I’ve been lurking for quite a while now. I’ve read the side bar a few times and in the process of reading The Rational Male. I think I’m making some progress based on the theories. One thing however I just can’t seem to break free from is comparison, then feeling not good enough.
I grow up in this mentality. Parents were always telling me, “Good that you got an A on this test, but can you do it again next time?” For context, not bragging, I’m fairly successful for my age. I’m in my late 20s, 5’11 and ripped maintaining a body fat percentage of ~8%. I’m comfortable financially with liquid asset worth just over a million bucks. I’ve got a stable and successful career but hoping to retire soon. I dress well and pride myself for being fashionable.
But none of these seems to matter. There’s always someone more muscular than me. There’s always someone richer than me. There’s always someone at a more senior level than me. I just can’t stop thinking I’m not good enough in every possible way.
Sadly this way of thinking carries over to girls as well. I cannot shake the feeling that any girls I’m with can just find someone better. I’m not good enough for her. Even when approaching, my first thought in the back of my mind is always, “I’m not good enough to attract her”.
How do I get out of this mentality? Please help!
