Here is perspective: - Do you choose to walk fast or is it involuntary instinct?

Do you always walk fast?
Is there benefit to you in walking at certain pace? If yes then what is it?

The way I see it all depends on intention and your current situation. If you have a place to be at and you are late, if you want to get more things done during the day, if you have no time to waste on social opinions and genuinely try your best to be a superman (get everything done) then by all means walk fast, but walk fast with Purpose.

When you do not have anything important to do and you are just walking to get from one place to another at no particular time constraint then walk at slower pace and take your time to observe your surroundings.

Despite the walking speed always be aware of whats happening around you.

Remember there are no rules in life and everything depends on your purpose and intentions. So people who tell you to always walk slow are the ones who lack understanding of deeper layer and just convey to you what they read or heard somewhere, same as people who tell you not to care about other's opinions and walk however you want. None of those is entirely true.

As Bruce Lee said "Be like water" and adjust from situation to situation.

At the end of 19th century it was a strong belief among noblemen and elite that it is bad for one to wander in a city without a purpose and walk slowly (as a way of relaxation/spending free time). They were talking about people with low social status.

So when it comes to walking speed, person should walk fast towards his destination. And it shows that person has clear purpose/goals in his life and is moving towards them. If you walk slow, it means that you dont care, you dont have a place to go and you are just going with the flow.

That doesnt mean that you should be running everywhere. It means that you must stand firmly on the ground and move towards your goal.

Stop giving a fuck about your pace. Slow down your breathing, try to be in the present moment: What would be better? To walk slowly, looking at things, enjoying your time, or to rush a bit to get things done? Its awkward to walk slower by will, but if you get calmer then its natural. But its perfectly okay to rush too.
