Hey TRP, so I'm a lean 5'7 guy (indian) and I've been a pushover r/niceguy all my life but I've realized its bullshit and I've been standing up to myself.

I share my house with 5 Indian guys, and one of them is an alpha douche kinda guy. He tries to pushover everyone, and everyone except me are kinda friends of his so they are calm. Today he tried to make me do something about household maintenance which I did not agree with. I argued a little, and when he didn't back down I escalated. He then started coming towards me and his friend kinda stopped and backed him off. I wasn't afraid at all. I said directly 'you hit me and I call the cops on you'(we are in usa). He still tried coming towards, like he wasn't afraid ( This was my main weapon, he hits me, I complaint on him, he is deported). But his friend pushed him back(he didn't fight him a lot). After few minutes he comes back after his friend explains situation and he's calm and he argues a bit politely. I had plans with friends so I just left house and came back at night.

Now I will move out in a couple months, but do I stand up next time and risk getting my ass beaten? (not afraid but seems unnecessary). Was I right? Or should I've been calm and not argued and ticked him off so much? DID I LOSE OR WIN? also will these next months be unpleasant as fuck for me?

Last two things. Did he actually want to beat me or was it a power move? Also will cops in US do anything about something like a simple slap? (like if he slapped me tightly but didn't do anything else)
