If you have require a year to finish, get the degree. Once you have a bachelor's degree, you can apply for all types of jobs besides your major

Unless you are studying at a school like Waterloo with close ties to industry and a co-op program, comp sci degrees don't have much to do with work, unfortunately. Pick some side project of your own, like writing a web site of martial arts moves and comments in Ruby on Rails, work on it nights and weekends. When done, if you liked it, you'll like being a software engineer.

The degree is mostly useless math. I work fulltime on an app with millions of users and use an algorithm from college like once a year, if that. There's also lots of worthless classes on things no one uses like functional languages like LISP and ML, and visual programming, etc.. Remember, the professors are there to do research and get grants and reach tenure, the topics they love help them do that. They don't help you do your job afterwards.

Don’t ever worry about what age you will graduate bro. Going to uni later gives you the wisdom to get more out of it.

If you want to do economics, you can learn it on your own time. I got a finance major which I loved, but now regret not doing comp sci because I could have learned the finance stuff on my own more easily than it is for me to learn how to program on my own.

Do whatever you gotta do, bro. If you trully hate it, and it's not just a pussy move because you find it hard, there's no reason to do it for the rest of your life. But know that you need a plan to make good money. Studying Econimics doesn't mean shit. You don't earn any practical skill and you can learn most of it by yourself in a few months. You can go into sells or learn a trade, and skip university altogether. Then again, I know plenty of great developers who were making bank, with no university degree. What I'm saying is, have a sustainable and thought out plan.

Think about the responsibilities that you want to have, and weigh that against the bullshit that you are willing to put up with to have those responsibilities.

For instance, you may want to become the next US president because you want to make the country better, and you like power. However, it is guaranteed that there will be a lot of people that will hate you. You will also be under constant pressure, and scrutiny. You will have to make decisions that can have global consequences. A lot of people would not want to be in that position, and may not be able to deal with it.

Anything that you do in life will have some bullshit that comes with it. Even being well-off, and being born with a silver spoon in your mouth has bullshit attached. Ensure that you're not choosing a certain path because you want to avoid bullshit because it's not going to happen.

Hey man. I was sort of in a similar position to you. I was debating whether to drop computer science and go to psychology, you can probably find the post on here over a year ago now.

I decided to stick it out. At the moment, I'm glad of my decision. Computer Science is a massive field. Everything from Audio processing to making websites. Have a look around, find a field that interests you. I know damn well for certain you can go work for banks in the finance Industry with a computer science degree, you just need the right skill sets.

I think you need to realise the potential of yourself. You need to not only do your degree, but extend upon it, learning the things that will get you to the field you want. Everyone has your degree, but you are the only person on that course with YOUR interests. So you need to build them around your degree.

Observe the human basic needs pyramid and locate where you are. Work on the parts that are lacking, and soon you will self-actualise into building skills that earn you money, and make you happy.

Essentially, try to figure out how YOU can make money. How can you combine all your interests into a single thing that makes money? For me, Computer Science is a great foundation for "gluing" together of all my interests.
