Think of three things you are interested in. It can be anything. Even math. Check in your area for any group or club that focuses on one of those three things. Show up. Go regularly.

Stop caring about your “friend group”. It’s only you in this journey. Friends come and go. So better go make yourself a likeable interesting dude because you are going to live with yourself for the rest of your life.

meetup.com or the reddit sub for your hometown? Meetup can be a bit crap in my experience - here a lot of the groups have silly charges and questions to make sure only middle class professionals come - but I've met a couple of good guy friends from my own home town's reddit sub (not under this username), and now I go out for beer and arcade games with them a bit.

One thing i used to do was go out alone to my local small music venues and see bands, or go skating to my local ice rink friday/weekends. Skating is good because there's good reason to be there alone (fitness, training - no one knows you're not a hockey player/dancer), but you can start conversations with people your age - especially if you get good and can offer help to an attractive person your age who is struggling to skate.

I know a lot of nerdy people I know meet people paying fantasy games like Dungeons and Dragons, personally I couldn't get into it but a lot of my nerdy friends met people there

I remember as a student I used to shop in thrift stores a lot buying old books and clothes and I made some friends/dates with girls my age who worked in them. These girls were into charity/saving the world so it was always easy to get them into conversation (and they weren't SJWs, many of them were conservative, just genuine charity workers)

This is just temporary. Don't get too beaten up about it. We've all been in your shoes. Just read, get better and stay afloat until the next wave comes through and carries you along. What you are feeling is called the doldrums (And look it up, doldrums is actually a real place).
