I just upgraded from my shitty old Optimus V to an iPhone earlier this week and noticed the iMessage differences when texting. Also noticed in some conversations, I receive 'read receipts' from users.

For example, I hit up this girl whom I met at a bar this weekend send a logistical text to see what she was up to this weekend. It said she read it 1 minute after it was sent. After noticing this, I immediately turned mine off as it's really normal for me to read a girl's text and not respond for even an hour or two if I'm lifting or working.

Part of TRP is being aloof and keeping girls guessing (borderline Seddit stuff here). What's better?

  1. Girl sees you read the text and at what time, you don't respond for 2 hours. [Downside: She might see you opened it 1-2 minutes after it was sent, showing you're sitting at your phone] [Upside: She knows you saw it, wonder why you aren't responding]

  2. Girl doesn't even know if you read the text, also wonders why it took you 2 hours to respond. [Downside: None?] [Upside: She's guessing/wondering even more than above]
