Okay so for example, one of my plates was wanting to hangout a couple nights ago. I was busy at a gathering and told her this. The next morning she mentions how she was "up all night and passed out on a couch with a guy named Mike" never heard this guy before but don't care any way or another. So I answered her question without any making any reference to what she said about Mike, obvious dodge, but what would be a way of passing that one, instead of dodging it?

She's only saying something to see how you'll react, not for an actual response. You'll understand this perfectly if she brings Mike up again or (for the more bold women) tries to call you out on not responding about Mike in the first place.

Regardless, she is a plate. Personally, I would immediately demote her in my mind because each stage of a relationship is a pre-requisite of the next. I think you're fine, but when in doubt agree and amplify.

If you dodge the subject, my guess is she'll try to bring it up again to make sure you heard her right. If you didnt acknowledge the subject on the first shittest she wont have an answer to it (gaging your reaction) so it will happen again.

If you want to cut her shit right away you can always agree & amplify (''oh yea, how big is he?''), or amused mastery (''Was it a pull out couch?'') with a shit eating grin. That last one would work if she's not a complete dummy tho.
