That’s not normal behavior between good friends and especially not between teammates. It sounds like the high level of mutual respect that y’all should be sharing just isn’t there.

I would consider this a difficult spot if I were in your shoes. My first reaction from prior experience with shitty “friends” is to cut the losers out and surround yourself with those who are more like a good compliment to your life instead of people who fail to paint you in a positive light, especially when trying to pickup girls.

But this is also a common workplace problem, which I like to think is similar to a team dynamic. A dynamic where you can’t simply cast people aside, but must learn to work together. And in those dynamics the underlying issue is often trust.

I get that you bad. Smart. Good looking. Athletic. Maybe a chiseled jaw like David. But are you someone that they know they can rely on, on and off the field/court?

It’s easy to throw away bad friends. But turning a detractor into an ally is a much greater feeling and will leave you with people you can trust far beyond a normal friend. 48 Laws of Power, Law 2.

I struggle with this myself at work and look to stronger men than for me on how to handle this variety of problem. You might find value in observing the leaders on your team or other teams and understand the actions and communication styles that set them apart.

Not often you find this on AskTRP, but I think this situation says that you're higher SMV than your "friends" and they're trying to climb.

Response? Don't react when the little cubs start barking. If they have the balls to nip at your heels, put them in their place firmly in front of the woman, and keep your frame. The yappy prick who has to try negging his mates is automatically lower in value if he's going after a good looking friend of his. Let him lower his SMV, be stoic, but protect your reputation.
