I believe that being beta is really a question of discipline. My theory can incorporate lots of confounding variables if we use the analogy of sports. This is not really some ground-breaking stuff, but I was just thinking about this and thought I'd share it. Let's use the sport of soccer as an example. I am going to focus on The Natural Alpha and The Practiced Alpha as my two main ways of demonstrating this theory.
- The natural alpha = The naturally talented player
- This kind of player is crazy. They break all the rules and are still able to score the most flashy goals. In the same way, by just being themselves, not necessarily taking care of their grooming or muscles or following "rules," they still get to score the hottest girls in the club. Think of Ronaldo in soccer. Amazing players who have revolutionized the game at times. However, they were not disciplined at all. Still, their talent seemed to magically pull them through. HOWEVER, these players almost always end up with a bad end of their career and their legacy is spotty compared to that of the second type.
- The Practiced Alpha = The GOATs
- These players are the ones that have household names in their respective fields. Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi in soccer; Michael Jordan and LBJ in Basketball; Tom Brady in Football. These players are most definitely talented, however, they couple it with discipline and calculated hard work. Whether these players are more talented than the "naturally talented ones" is for debate. However, we know for a fact that these players are the ones that truly excel and reach consistent achievement in their fields.
So how does this relate to the redpill (which is what really got me thinking about this in the first place)?
First, you have to identify where you are on the spectrum of talent. This means that you have to see your looks, status, money, mental stability, self-esteem, body proportions, and size, etc.
This is extremely important to help keep yourself focused and disciplined. This will be helpful for two kinds of people
- The Ronaldos of the world: If you are able to get girls because of your natural talent, then that means you are not in a sustainable place. You need to make sure that you are disciplined for the future.
- Those lacking the talent: If you lack the natural talent of the Ronaldos, that does not mean that you should quit trying. Plenty of players at the top teams in the world are able to play day in and day out thanks to their discipline and (limited) talent. These players are not as good as Messi (natural+practiced) or Ronaldo (natural), but they are able to still be at a top level thanks to their (limited) talent and good discipline.
Limitations of this theory: I am really creating "arbitrary" divisions as this is really a spectrum. However, this is really useful because some people might think that just because they are not Messi (the consistent, disciplined and talented player) or Ronaldo (extremely talented but lacking in consistency and discipline. But if their highs are really high), they can still do their best to improve themselves. You can still be the solid player who does their job just right.
Conclusion: You should not care about your talent, whether it be in looks, monetary gain, body, etc. All you should care about is what you can do to improve your current situation. You have to consistently do the right thing, and then you can maximize your talent. Only at that point can you truly judge your real potential.
