I am having trouble understanding the implications of the following theory. I have seen different spins on it (see below), but I think it they all come down to the same thing.

  1. You should not "level" with her, or else she will not respect you
  2. You should never show her your "wheels"

What exactly does this mean? I am not supposed to show her how I actually think? I am not supposed to be an open book? Or I am not supposed to maneuver / manipulate directly because she will learn my "art of war" and thus be able to manipulate me? Can someone provide example or elaborate? For example, would saying "I want to have sex with you" be showing "wheels" and leveling, or would devising an elaborate scheme of dates and psychological tricks be showing her "wheels"?

In my experience, leveling actually provides incentive and gives them something to work with, and thus allows a relationship to ensue, otherwise they often do not even know how to interact with me and no relationship takes place. Obviously you take a risk by doing this, as you are subject to manipulation on those grounds (if you are generally interested in maintaining your integrity), but isn't that what being alpha and a good leader is all about?
