You're giving her what she needs? The primary purpose of these traits is to give yourself what you need. You're approaching TRP as if it's PUA.
You carry traits that serve you. If she doesn't like them, she can fuck off.
It didn't sound like you had a plan for the end of the night, so this is your fault. You can't wait around for things to "just happen". That's what women do. Men do the work.

Like Patrice said, always be mentally prepared to be able to take the L within 30 minutes. Mentally approach the date with this, it's fine if she wants to break up at any time.
For planning, just think ahead more. Get ice cream, walk around, and think of a place to take her afterward. The last step is the one you've been missing.
If you don't have a place you can bang, tell her. "I don't have anywhere for us to go, let's go to yours and watch a movie."

If she didn't live with her parents I would guess there was a guy upstairs when you surprised her at midnight. Is that possibility out of the picture? Maybe she's introduced another guy to her folks and they think you're out of the picture. It would be strange for her to bring her "ex" around. Don't put anything past a woman.
