I was speaking to my parents recently and they were pushing me to get a serious girlfriend (I come from a family with strong BP ideals about love and companionship). I told them about how I'm trying to create a purpose for my life and that it is important to me that the women who join me have strong moral character, as I have been burned in the past by gold digging hoes. It is important to me to vet. It is also important to me to be very attracted to her, obviously she doesn't have to be Ivanka Trump but I believe that beautiful women make it more likely I will be remain in love.
My mother responded with "she just has to be *good enough*" and my father agreed. I told them that is the worst advice I have ever heard. I would rather shoot for the stars (within reason) and fail than be mediocre. Where does this sense of mediocrity come from? II see it everywhere. My parents are just the tip of the iceberg, I see this quite often. Everyone pushes mediocrity on you. People tell you mediocrity is acceptable.
Why is this BP society so obsessed with mediocrity. Historically, other societies were extremely competitive and pushed men to be their best. My suspicion is that a society that is deeply gynocentric cares more about "feelings not being hurt" than success, and that is why. What do you think?
