My dad took me to meet his mentor, a well respected businessman who has acquired quite a sum of wealth over the years. It was interesting from the start, he was quite reserved and quite and my father would talk and tell him stories. He would ask questions and listen but I could feel it when he didnt hear what he wanted to and got a feel for his power. As I would ask any sort of inquisitive questions about his vision about a charitable event he had I was corrected and in a sense put in my place. He then offered a business opportunity and gave me different business to pursue. I've never had someone do this to me and my brain is not taking this well. My ego was destroyed and it left me in a state of shock for some time. Not sure how to proceed dealing with a person of his "stature" or even how to have a conversation. How do you guys speak to people who are better than you dont talk much but offer advice and help? Have you guys ever experienced something like this? If so how did you go about handling it?
