Yes, that is an innappropriate response - in fact "Are you an angel" already put you in the disgusting, writhing mass of betas that have contacted her - and I'm shocked she responded at all.

But, her "Nah" is one single chance - you miss it and it's over.

You need to flip the script, disqualify her or otherwise put her on the back foot to show her you are different. Girls like that are so used to being chased that any variation is a good start.

I'd go with: "Good, because Satan started out as an angel. I'd never know when you were going to fall, you know?"

That's not the greatest, but I hope you see my point - do not acknowledge your horrendous mistake in asking if she was an angel, and make it totally clear that you don't think she is.
