I have just finished my 4 years of university in Canada which many refer to as college in the US. I have majored in Business Admin. I am a high distinction student with good grades above the median(but we all know grades don't mean shit) and I've had a summer internship working for a small, local retailer. I also hold relatively decent volunteering experience. However, the basis of getting your foot in the door here is having connections (nepotism) and I don't have the luxury of that. I'm not posting this to feel sorry for myself, but I see that a lot of people on this thread are in there 30s-40s and know what the real world is like and have some top notch business careers. I hate the idea of me rotting away at home and living with my parents till something comes out. I have this dire sense of immediacy and its itching away at me. Overall, I would just feel extremely useless until I land a decent position as an entry level analyst/accountant/or something that sounds respectable and allows me to work my way up in a corporate environment.
For those of you that can offer advice, what's my best bet for getting a steady career going? Should I pursue my masters (MBA) instead, take technical courses to learn excel, SQL, etc. or is there something I'm missing? I'm surprised I'm keeping my cool right now but this is a very anxious and uncertain time in my life.
On a side note, applying for jobs seems almost useless b/c 99% of the postings online are masked sales positions and the decent ones in banks, fortune 500 companies require you to have some bat-shit 2-3 years of experience for entry level positions. I just feel quite helpless, but I want to be fucking successful.
Thanks for any help and if there is any critique on my mentality about all of this I would appreciate hearing different POVs as well.
