I'm in a bit of a pickle and could use your advice. First some background: I've been in a relationship for the last two years. The relationship is going well, we live together, have good rapport, she's attracted to me and I pass her shit tests. She's well behaved most of the time and I've managed to keep my emotional investment low. If she left me for another guy tomorrow, I'd be OK with that. As far as LTRs go, ours is in pretty good shape.
But here's the catch, I asked her to move to my home country to live with me, and soon she will need a relationship visa with me to continue living here. She's built a better life for herself here than she has at home, so I'd feel like a bad guy for kicking her out of the country. The trouble is that in order to have a relationship visa she needs to live with me for the next three years before she can apply for full residency.
I'm honestly torn, this is more commitment than I'm comfortable with, but on the other hand she hasn't done anything to deserve me breaking up with her. On top of that, I was the one who asked her to move here.
Usually I trust my gut feeling in these situations but mine is pulling me in both directions. What would you guys do in my position?
