Hello gents, new to TRP, been reading the sidebar for a few weeks and had my share of lurking beforehand. Went over the glossary a few times and just finished an audiobook that was referenced on a post on https://www.reddit.com/r/TheRedPill/comments/4radyp/collected_advice_and_methods_for_beginners/ ("No More Mr. Nice Guy" by Robert Glover). I started to read (listen to) this book after my ex-gf of about 6 months broke up with me. I started to to listen to the advice described in the book and began to follow my workout routine better and not be as complacent as I was while we were dating. During this time, I was referred to TRP from an IRL friend of mine. While at first this seemed like a joke to me to read, as I went along it all started to make more and more sense to me, and I am now doing my best to live this new lifestyle I am just now discovering, wishing I had known about this when I was still in high school.
During the past few weeks, my ex had tried to start a few conversations with me via/text. I was polite, but I stuck to my guns and remembered seeing posts like "don't become emotionally attached", a value that is at the heart of TRP. However, as I thought about it more and more, she had broken up with me because I was not making positive actions towards my goals in life, and she had noticed that. I was upset for only a day, and the day right after I was nose-deep reading TRP. I made positive changes in my attitude and put my own self before anything else. I sometimes cold-opened girls at my college to see if my confidence and the shit-testing theory's I read here were true. Sure enough, I held my frame and secured a few phone numbers that lead to some great conversations with girls who...didn't text me back. All good, because after reading about one-itis syndrome, none of it bothered me.
A few weeks went by and I ended up going to dinner with her not too far from my house. However the place was a considerable amount of time from her's. The interaction went well and I left feeling happy, however I remembered not to get emotionally invested. Fast forward two more weeks and we are hooking at up a Dave & Busters, re-discussing the terms of our now newly recreated relationship.
I didn't feel any regret or sorrow, or any emotional attachment towards her, although BP me would have definitely done so. The decision to get back with her was...for lack of better words: not forced? Of course I am now happy that I am back with a chick who makes me feel really happy and supportive of my life goals, however the more and more I read TRP, there seems to be a common stigma that being single is the way to go. That dating and being with someone you really like is BP shit, and relationships/marriage 2.0 is so flawed (which it is) that seeking that is stupid. I would like some clarification on the following question:
TL;DR: When it comes to dating and TRP, are they polar opposites? Is having a LTR without emotional attachment a good idea? Or is it heresy? How can I see the difference between oneitis and LTR? Is there no difference?
Thanks in advance for the feedback, I really do appreciate it. God bless.
