The actual TRP forum has a great post on this and you should go over there and read it. Otherwise, first dates should be limited to coffee/drinks. When the time comes, if she wants to pay, you let her. If you end up paying, at least it was something cheap. Rule of thumb, don't be a sucker and plan some big dinner date within the first few meet ups, especially if you didn't get laid.

Women expect man to pay, nomatter how much feminist diarrhea they spew, they want to be taken out by a gentleman who takes care of everything and she's just along for the ride. YOU decide where to go, where to sit and for how long AND yes you pay for the first date. If you two been togheter longer it's fine for her to pay if she insists. That's why you keep your first dates inexpensive and lighthearted, a walk in the park is free. If you feel chemistry you take her further for a couple of drinks, if not then hug goodbye and it won't cost you a rusty cent.

Do what you want. Don't change your behavior for the chick. If you want to pay, then pay, if not then split it. $10 isn't gonna matter imo if she is attracted to you, in that case she knows you have much more to offer than a few drinks.
