This trait strangles my productivity. I do many things because they would look good or are required, or I sign myself up for an ordeal right off the bat with the expectation that I power through it (so I can "make up for lost time" and do it right once so I'll never struggle in that field again). Both examples are plagued with perfectionist tendencies - I feel I'm running out of time (23 yo), I don't see what combination of hobbies/skills/talents will provide me the max payoff so I don't attempt anything, I slip when the odds are against me and hamster at warp speed, etc.

All I know is I'm a bitch and that something is terribly wrong. I'm not looking to cry, I want instead to hear of your techniques, habits, and long-term ways of overcoming this.
