Hey everyone,

So prom's coming up in two weeks and I'm going with a group of friends who have dates. I currently do not have a date but there's a girl (friend of friends' dates) that is going with us who doesn't have a date either. This girl, in my eyes, isn't my type. She's kinda those girls that are just neutral to me, not ugly but not attractive to me. I do have her in one of my classes tomorrow and plan on asking her as my prom date. I've never actually had a conservation with her. I've heard this girl has talked about me and is interested in me. I do not want to date this girl seriously. I'm just trying to have fun in my prom night and spend it with somebody. This girl is in one of my classes and I'm trying to reduce the awkwardness.

Here are my questions:

  1. I'm not going to make a poster and all that shit. I'll just straight up ask her in class tomorrow. If she says yes, what should I say next? Should I just be like "cool, okay I'll see you at prom then".?

  2. How do I make this situation less awkward as I'll be seeing her in class for the next two weeks before prom. Imagine me asking her to prom and seeing her in class without us saying anything to each other. Again, we've never talked before and prom wouldn't be as fun if I didn't connect with her. After asking should I try setting up a date? I don't want her thinking I want to date her. I'm fine being friends with her and just taking her to prom.
