so I know a girl who says the following things about her dad:

  • he's not a real, serious dad, he's just a "fun" dad (he does not comfort her and give her a feeling of security)

  • he was never there

  • he doesn't care for her problems

  • he doesn't know what is going on in her life (her parents are divorced) and he doesn't care about her problems

  • he's an asshole

  • he doesn't trust her

  • he's as stubborn as she is

  • they always fight

and so on.. nevertheless she always says things like "omg I wanna do XY with my dad like in the past etc. I once met her dad and he seems like a normal guy with some rp traits. He never gets angry or emotional when she throws shit at him. He makes fun of her and just keeps everything light. She craves his attention.

Now should you treat girls like that just like her father (ignore her, just have fun with her, no validation and no interest) did or should you treat her like a "good" father, listen to her problems, giving her advice, educate her, put her in her place but also take care of her, protect her etc
