Hey there guys,

I've worked through and read a lot material related to this, and other subjects. The question I've got is specifically towards goal seeking and progress.

How do you accurately measure progress in a set of goals that you cannot empirically measure?

Some goals are easy as pie. You want to improve in your math skills, go to khanacademy, get direct feedback on your progress and actions.

Started lifting a few years back, after that point, every time I see my mum (about once every 2 months) she commented on how my physique had changed. It wasn't, hey, you got in better shape, it was, let me look at you son. mhmm, your chest and shoulders bulked up, good progress.

My question is, how do you gauge progress in other segments? How do you set realistic milestones?

My cooking has improved. I don't burn things anymore. I know how to use spices now. I can even make some gluten free stuff, for an in law. But how do I gauge the rest?

Deciding what to invest my time on is a different question. I go after certain activities because I enjoy them, and set myself some milestones, but others... Bust. I lose myself in an activity and then wonder as to how to measure, leaving me floundering if someone says, hey, you any good at cooking?

TL;DR: having problems gauging and setting milestones in various skills.
