I’m 18 and stared my first proper job early September. I work as a bartender, it’s a lot of pressure but I enjoy it and I’ve gradually become more confident with it. However, I do find myself on the receiving end of Male shit tests from one particular person I work behind the bar with. He has worked there longer than me therefore is more confident with it and I often have to ask him for help with certain things. He’s not a bad guy and most of the time he’s alright but sometimes he gives me a hard time for forgetting little things and acts like a whiny teenager, it’s like he thrives on me making mistakes. For example, sometimes he’ll purposefully give me orders to do things in front of customers and I know he’s trying to assert dominance because he’s clearly being louder so people notice it. One part of me wants to stand up to it but another part realises he is more competent right now due to experience and I rely on his help therefore when he asks me to do stuff I can’t really refuse it. I’m not overly apologetic when I make mistakes and most of the time I annoy him but how do I go about making him respect me, I don’t want his approval I’m just not having him speak to me like I’m a bitch.

TL:DR A guy at work has been giving me somewhat of a hard time, tries to demonstrate authority and acts out when I make minor mistakes that any beginner would make. How do I stop this?
