Sign ups for wrestling are on Monday. Thinking of joining cause I've heard lots of good things on here. Bit I'm hesitant to not think it through, cause it's a binding thing: you sign up, you have to do preseason workouts until tryouts in December.

Pros:

  • Possible college recruitment if I'm good. Since a lot of people start freshman year, I have a shot of actually being pretty good.

  • I did some Judo in the past. I'm far from being a really good martial artist, but I'm decent, and the extra knowledge at least might give me an edge.

  • I've heard it's really good for discipline

  • Helps get your body in shape alongside lifting

  • I've always enjoyed grappling and play wrestling for fun

Cons:

  • I'll have to drop all my other clubs (debate, mock trial, model un, et cetera) because if I do wrestling, we have practice every day. This coincides with other meetings for clubs. This is bad since I want to be a lawyer in the future, and these clubs definitely help me learn essential skills of the trade.

  • Wrestling has a bad rep at my school. I casually brought it up into conversation, some people just laughed and said it was sweaty guys groping each other. They're wrong, but still.
