I'm currently going to school (city college) while working as a waiter. I live in a fairly expensive city but I make around 1500-2000 a month. I'm also about to turn 20.

My expenses are as follows:

60 for phone 100 for insurance 50 for gym

Plus food, gas, things of that nature. I'm planning on finding 2 roommates and splitting a 2 bedroom apartment for around 1200ish so 400 per month.

Is this a good idea? I really want to try out the independence and grow as a person but logistically, it isn't a smart idea. My parents are helicopter parents but I have it good there. No rent, my own bedroom in a nice area, 10 minutes drive from school and work.
