Welders are generally known as douchebags and not in a good way, electricians are pretty laid back and chill those are the two I have the most experience with. Although my two electrician buddies have quit because they spend too much time away from their family and friends. They go to camp for a month or two at a time. Good money but not much time for anything else. The welders I've known I've broken contact with they're just not fun to be around, obviously not all are like that just my experience. I have some mechanic bros and they tend to be the nerdier route like with gaming all the time and memes and shit.

Trades are a middle class job. We all work the same ways our grandparents may have, are generally useful and know our slice of shit.

In a zombie apocalypse, trades and military are the only ones worth keeping alive. The three most dangerous careers are Logging, Fishing, and then Linesman with Electrician in 5th, Military in 11th, and the police at 19th.

The number of jobs in trades has been slowly on the decline since the 70s. Much of these will be getting automated away thanks to machine learning and computer vision, but that's like 20 years out.

Get indentured and progress through an apprenticeship. Fuckers will put you through just like boot-camp. They will break you down if you're a sissy and they will rebuild you into the character you need to be to do well in that trade.

I'm in Australia so my experience may differ.

I have a trade in the gas and oil industry which has let me travel all around the country and even to other countries while making well above average wage in Australia. I'm 26 and have done well for myself as far as a house and stuff is concerned.

I'm employed mainly on a FIFO Basis (fly in, fly out) which is perfect for plates and lots of casual sex since I'm home for 10 days and then away working for 28 days. I've been in a LTR for only 2 months now and haven't done a 28 day trip yet since things are quite, so when my roster goes back to normal I'm not sure if I'll continue with her which kind of sucks.

I'm considering a change to industrial scaffolding which is also very highly paid.

My opinion. Going into a trade has been extremely important for my growth as a man. Learning to use tools and having a mechanical mind is advantageous, not just in day to day life but also in attracting women. If I had a quarter for every women that has asked me to wear my hardhat while we fucked.

I say fucking go for it.
