The finances of moving to a big city sucks. Live close enough, and then have a hotel ready if you plan to bring a girl back. She doesn't have to know you live 30-45 mins away, you could be "in on vacation." That said, the "grass is always greener on the other side" and you will get tired of it . . .

I personally noticed this living not too far from NYC. When you first visit NYC, your mind hyper-focuses on the towering buildings that block out the sky, the lights, the noise, the overall "energy" of the atmosphere there. Truly, the city that never sleeps. I went there a few times in a row as I had a plate that lived in the southern tip of the city, her family had money. I noticed between my train and subway ventures that the "magic" of the lights and buildings started to wither down. It was at that moment I noticed the features of the city that fascinated me most were the "carrot on the stick" that masked the homelessness, the city stench, the garbage on the streets, the annoyance of the constant car horns honking, the drunks and drug addicts, ect.

When you live in a big city, it gets tiring, just like anything else you are exposed to for prolonged periods of time. When you are someone who simply "visits" it from time to time, it doesn't lose its "magic" because you go there on "special occasions" or a "night out." If you're 45 mins away, that's not bad. At least something within a drive-able reach. That is ideal. You can appreciate that world from afar without losing the magic. Once you are hear, you wake up everyday in this shit and are bound to get tired, especially with you account for the significant increase in the cost of living, the noise, the tourists ect.

Seriously, how do you guys not go insane? Living in a small town SUCKS ass. I live in a town with 8000 people.

That's pretty massive compared to the town I grew up in.

Every time I walk through my town I see the same people.

It does make it easier to predict who's going to do what, though.

There are almost no job opportunities here

No arguments here. But if you do land one of the few well paying jobs, you are just about golden.

I used to call this 'An Atlanta Nine.' As in you can bet that a nine in Atlanta was the hottest PoA in whatever rural town she came from. Conversely the girls that were left there got their ego's inflated to the same level because there wasn't anything better locally. So a six in podunk would be acting like a nine in Atlanta.

And everybody thinks their own skeletons are well hidden.

Moving out is not an option, I'm still in school for another 2 years.

The ticket here is to have a plan to leave. Not just 'I'm getting out of here' but an actual path with goals. Maybe going to college or learning a trade? Both will likely require you to move out. How would you plan to fund those? How about housing, and the funding to actually move yourself. Use your two years to save cash and work out the details.
