I'm a SWE & my friends are not in tech. I prefer it that way

Find other shit u like doing and surround yourself with like minded people

I think I might have the right mix in the answer for what you might be looking for here.

I was into CS, because of the high salary and frankly because there’s a part of me that loves the fact you do very difficult things on a regular basis, it’s stimulating. I actually made a slight pivot into Informatics which is nearly identical but has a bigger focus on web/software development.

Then I just got my first high paying job in SEO, (90k base) which is an awesome combination of programming skill, numbers, and digital marketing. I absolutely love it, there’s tons of interaction with a range of people in different teams, there’s tons of girls in digital marketing, (not that it’s the reason you should do it) but it’s overall a great time.

In terms of girls, I don’t think there is an inherent disadvantage in entering a technical discipline. It’s a separate part of your life. Most people in CS are nerdy betas, yes. But that’s because they neglect the social aspect of their lives. If you lift, go out, and socialize, you’ll be absolutely fine.

As a matter of fact, you’ll be ahead of the game. I just went through a pretty brutal end of a relationship, and in response I’m planning on getting a solo apartment right next to campus next year, getting a nice setup for my dev machines and tech + my PowerBlocks, but also so that I can hangout with girls without dealing with roommates. I absolutely cannot wait.

I’m a computer engineer major,I have a mix of electrical and can classes. The cs teachers are always dickheads compared to my other teachers.Also I agree the course load is heavy, almost no time to do anything else. Then there’s all the weird ass cs kids too.

I work in tech and can say that if you don't like it, you won't make it or won't reach your capacity. Tech is frustrating and requires a love for it and consistent persistence...tough to make it if you don't like it in anything, but especially tech. Also, the idea that you're going to have a professional job and not spend most of your day in front of a computer is laughable...you're going to be in front of a computer most of the time...or worse, in unending, inefficient meetings.

People tend to overvalue sexual success during college and don't learn a skillset that will benefit them long-term, so they have a great time but end up with limited career prospects, which translates later to limited sexual prospects (good looks & muscles make this irrelevant...i.e. the classic pool boy/ski instructor). If you have a great job, take care of your mind and body, cultivate a group of friends, etc., then you'll have lots of options as you age. The older I get, the more options I have. I'm in my 30s and regularly match with the 18 - 26 crowd; my post-divorce best is 6 lays (under 30) in a single weekend. I had a lot of options in college with high quality women, but now I have probably 10x. Why? I've got an 8-pack, I work in tech, good clothes and haircut, solid friend group, and I've internalized RP. Not much to it in retrospect, but it seems confusing as hell until you figure it out.

Honestly though, having a job you enjoy is worth a lot, but it's not always clear what you'll want as you age when you're 20. The nice thing about tech is that, if you're smart with your money, then you can easily change into another field later and you'll have the resources to pay for a grad degree and take time off to make the switch.

Once you have your degree, use it to travel and work overseas. You should be eligible for working holiday visas or skilled working visas in a variety of countries.

Outside of your schooling, just do the usual RP things: Lift, approach and socialise.

The grind of studying is different than the life afterwards.

Yes, you're sitting in a lab working hard now. But this is sweat equity you're investing in your future. In four years, you'll be very gainfully employed with plenty of free time AND money. You'll be perfectly poised to play a little social catch-up, using your newfound wealth and employability as a pivot to go where you want and do what you want.

All those other kids who partied while they were at school will see their free time evapourate, their net worth tank, and their social lives vanish as they hit the life-long grind of making ends meet, all because they chose instant gratification now.

You're getting ahead of the curve.

The part that comes after school is the best part. Keep at it.

Yeah, I am currently studying SE and I believe that we are at a disadvantage at least in my university. There is like maybe 10% women and 90% guys. You can always do whatever you want outside of it, have hobbies and social life but for most people in their twenties colleague is the primary source of meeting women, and let's reverse the scenario at unis where 90% in women and 10% men or even half and half. They are at an advantage even from the start because of the opportunities and environment with richer possibilities. I am working on my way to

exploit(lol) the situation I am currently in. One way you can deal with the environment with fewer women is somehow connected with other colleagues by people where there are more women and reading your social circle there.But it isnt easy to find someone from your uni that has friends in other colleagues.

Im studied CS and still fuck girls and have friends outside tech.

Although I would recommend staying out of this field if you dont feel like staying 8h a day behind a computer. You dont have the passion to excel.

Yeah bro shit sucks and I wish people here wouldn't tout stem as the answer to everything when its not for everyone. Don't have any advice but I have a lot of friends in CS and that shit is cutthroat. I know you can make a shit ton in freelance even if you don't get a degree though.
