I stopped right there. Go read the book Psycho-Cybernetics. It's by a plastic surgeon who discusses how people feel about themselves before and after this type of surgery (and related ones). It goes into depth on why some people feel the same afterwards and why some feel better and what the differences are. It includes everything you're looking for here in a tremendous amount of depth regarding what other people will think as well.

The fact that you are both insecure about what your nose looks like now and how people will react to a nose job, should already tell you enough in order to quit trying to fix the symptoms but be looking for the source of your problems and start to fix that.

'Well recently I had some problems breathing properly which stopped me from doing cardio. I was basically unable to breath while I was sweating. I told a physician and he told me the only way to fix it is a rhinoplasty. And since he was already fixing my nose I told him to reshape it as well. Double-win for me. Looks good, or?How was your weekend?'

It really depends on your milieu and how chill they're towards unnecessary cosmetic surgery. I mean if you have a real deformation thats holding you back in dating or otherwise, then go for it as most people find it acceptable.

However, if the purpose is to make you look like a 10, then i gotta say that a sizable proportion of people and particularly heterosexual women would find that vain and unattractive. Especially since they are themselves struggling with body image issues.

All in all you should do it if you really want to. But you have to live with the consequences for your reputation for the rest of your Life

Making a major transition really mind-fucks the people you typically hang out with.

I got a haircut and new clothes, contact lenses and ditched my glasses. It was a whole new world for me.

If you are going to get surgery I only have two pieces of advice:

1) OWN IT. Time it such that you have time to recover and don't look like a trash panda. Do not let anyone see you in recovery, but once you are 100%, then say nothing.

2) Get the nose job but reinvent yourself completely, and then find a new circle to walk in.

Do it. I can guarantee you that people won't even notice your nose if it wasn't some grotesque before. If you have dorsal hump or septal deviation, they won't notice, and it's all in your head.

If you're really insecure about that, then yea it'll help you with gaining confidence, but soon after that you'll realize that it wasn't your nose, but your self image.

Own your shit and don't look for external validation. You can only control yourself.
