Texting advice?

Basically, everything you said in your post is what you shouldn't do.

It's generally agreed upon by TRP that texting should only be used as a tool to setup meet ups. Your texts should be short, direct, and concise.

Emoticons should be used incredibly rarely (I almost never do)

I mean you don't wanna seem like you're glued to your phone all the time but you don't make her wait for every response either, at least not intentionally. You will come off as uninterested at best or trying too hard at worst.

As for the "no emoji" rule, I think that's more a construct of overcompensating pseudoalphas than anything based in reality. Obviously you don't want to overdo it but she can't see your face over text so a well placed ;) or :P can mean the difference between a playful text that she'll respond well to or a "omg this guy is a douche", especially if she doesn't know you that well. If you have a very dry sense of humor and she gets to know this about you, then eventually you can drop the emojis, but for a girl you've never met or have barely met, no emojis can make you come off as a dick

Keep it short, interesting, and playful. You don't want to give too much or too little, keep them wanting more. You don't want to sound like you trying to impress them so act like its no big deal while creating a high value. Challenge them a bit e.g. "we don't have to talk about it if you're too shy or embarrassed." Most importantly have fun and don't be afraid of losing, the worst that could happen is she'll stop talking to you and guess what, she will be doing you a favor by allowing you to move on to the next.

My opinion on this: less is more. The less you talk, the better. Only say what absolutely needs to be said, avoid too many jokes, and use very few, if any of those smiley face emotions. Don't come off as needy or looking for attention, just state what you want, and go with the attitude that if you can't get what you want, you'll get it somewhere else. Don't agree too much with whoever you're talking to. Don't be the one asking all the questions or making all the effort to keep the conversation going. If the conversation drops, just move on. If she was truly interested in you, she'd make sure the convo keeps going, and if she isn't, I highly doubt anything you say in a text message is going to change her mind.
