This isn't a usual sexual strategy question, something more along the lines of a RP theory question.

I went to a Catholic high school. We boys had to wear a jacket and tie, but we had the freedom to wear any color or style we wanted. Not so for the girls, they all had to wear identical uniforms. When asked "Why?" we were always told that (unlike boys) girls heavily compete against each other to sow off wealth, and the richer girls would always be outdressing the less-wealthier girls. In retrospect, this seemed a very politically correct answer, because we always thought the true reason was to prevent a slut dressing competition.

Likewise, Muslim women are made to cover up. We always hear that's it's to prevent a show of wealth competition, but I always get the feeling the true underlying reason is to prevent slutiness.

So which is it... why are Catholic girls and Muslim women made to dress the way they do?
