From my preliminary readings on this subreddit, it seems like I'm doing at least one thing wrong by actively pursuing a graduate degree (in tech, no less!). On the other hand, my particular field of interest has also prevented me from getting up to the usual partying/casual sex shenanigans that most women my age get up to, not that I'm really the type to begin with.
So I guess that's a plus. Anyway, I've been in a serious, multi-year relationship with a great, honest, stable, loving, kind, mature, intelligent, awesome, etc. guy. We have discussed and plan on getting married soon enough, barring bad relationship happenings. The caveat: my man is only a year older than me. By all accounts, a woman's value goes down as a man's value goes up over the years, which means two decades from now, my boyfriend will be even more awesome than he is now and I'll be... well. Significantly less so.
Am I screwing up? If I stay with my boyfriend, is his extremely high future value going to mess things up for me later down the line (because if the most pessimistic blog posts are to be believed, whatever I do ain't going to prevent my own value from plummeting)? Should I be finding his much older clone to date/marry/make babies with instead? Given my age/field/location, I do have several years (I'm going to guess around 4) to search for this person before my sexual value presumably starts going down the drain.
Also, all of this is very cold and ignores the fact that I obviously love my SO. As a smart, mildly introverted geek, he certainly isn't stereotypically "alpha" in the way some blog posts I've read on here seems to describe, but I personally think there's a lot to respect and admire in him already, and I know that's only going to increase over the years. Which is both cool, yet dangerous when you work out the math. So what the heck is a girl supposed to do in this situation? Any advice?
EDIT: 3/3 consensus. Thanks r/asktrp!
