Compromise*

Some context:

-I have been dating this girl for about 6 months

-I am 28, she is 20

-She is a student, I work a 9-5 in IT downtown in a city

So last night/today was a truly special milestone in our relationship... she finally got pissed off at me.

This happened last night (Friday), the end of her first week back at school. She moved in to her pseudo-apartment on campus housing last weekend. She had to wake up around 8 this morning to start a new part time job teaching kids. Last night she goes to bed, I stayed up another hour or two. I hit the hay around 1:30 AM, at which point I turned on the light to read. I've done this 10-20 times before at this hour of the night, she was never phased by it. I read every night in bed, it's an important ritual for me to wind my mind down so that I can fall asleep. She says nothing at first, then a few minutes later asks me in an annoyed how much longer I am planning on reading. I respond with an even toned "Hm, I don't know". 5 minutes later she asks again with increased agitation in her voice. I just gave her another "I don't know". I haven't been able to concentrate very well on the text since I started reading, so I finished the page, put the book down, and turned off the light. 10 minutes later she gets out of bed and moves to the couch where she stays for the rest of the night.

So this morning I'm in bed waking up, she's on the couch and she asks me why I thought it was ok to turn on the light to read (I live in a studio, so these two things are very close to each other). I told her, again in a neutral tone, "I read every night, and you have never shown that the light has bothered you before. Also, I live here and I should be able to read if I want to read."

She says nothing, gets off the couch 5-10 minutes later and takes a shower. When she was ready to leave around 9 she said goodbye from about 5 feet away while I was sitting at my desk. Before this, she was always very affectionate when saying goodbye and would always give me a kiss and a smile, so this was a very obvious slight.

And that's it. Not a big deal, but I wanted to get some perspective from TRP. This relationship was initiated and developed on redpill strategies/beliefs and things have been going very well.

So I guess my specific questions are: 1) In a future similar situation should I continue to read with the light on? I have a book light, but I don't like reading that way and I'm also worried about setting a bad precedent by conceding to her complaint. 2)How should I play this if she continues to be icey? She is coming back tonight around 6 after work.
