My opinion: they're awesome.

No kids, did it at 25.

Haven't regretted it once. I knew since age 12 or so I wanted to not have kids.

It's a no brainer for any man who plans to be high value in the future. Near 100% effectiveness man. Planning on getting one when I get older. Beforehand I'll be freezing my sperm samples in a sperm bank for several years, so I can garner enough samples for the day that I'll eventually have kids. Sperm samples last basically forever, this cryotherapy stuff is insane. I will eventually settle down with an LTR (No Marriage Fuck That) and cohabitate ONLY for the purpose of raising kids. I will NOT be using my LTR's egg but instead using a donor egg. Two reasons. One, if my LTR ends, she cannot take me for child support, and she'll only be able to see the kid at MY discretion, not the government's. Two, she won't have to carry the pregnancies, so it may benefit her if she wants to take on the responsibility of being a mother without the physical challenges of pregnancy.

Unfortunately, this plan will be costly. Sperm freezing + egg donor + IVF will cost. But after all, any sort of cohabitation/raising kids with a woman will cost. I'm just paying the cost upfront. I'd rather drop $300k to have a kid through IVF than get divorce raped, alimonied and child support for the rest of my life.

Don't tell the girl you're snipped though. Let her believe you can knock her up.

I had one and it was one of the best decisions I've made. I know for a fact I don't want kids and condoms alone aren't that reliable. Like others have mentioned, don't tell the hoe.

JMHO - I had it done at 43, have already passed on my genes, don't want another one. It's been great. Recovery was easy. No complications.

As for reversal - there are reversal procedures that have high variability of success. It is also possible for a doc withdraw semen out "upstream" of the snip where sperm can still be obtained by inserting a needle into the right spot and drawing out the fluid. They can then use it to inseminate a woman with your sperm if you and her decided to have kids in the future. I think this procedure likely has a higher likelihood of knocking her up, the insemination can be done by injecting the swimmers in the uterus, or even farther up the fallopian tubes, resulting in millions more swimmers near the egg, so there wouldn't be need to go into the doc office over and over for many repeated attempts, assuming good sperm viability.

I've wondered these days, if it might not be a good idea for all young men to get snipped and then when they want kids, have the doc draw it out and squirt it up in the prospective mother.

Disclaimer : I haven't had one and I want kids in the future. I'm 22. I don't know how old you are and I don't know you. These are going to be my reasons not to do it.

Having a Vasectomy is similar to cutting an organ out of yourself. You were born a man. Being a man and living through a male experience entails being able to reproduce with sperm as a mean.

If you have a vasectomy, you'll have it right now, at time X but its consequences will last until your death.

Freezing your sperm isn't a great idea. Though it is supposed to guarantee you to be able to come back on your decision, multiple issues can arise. For instance the place where it is kept can have a shortage and corrupt the samples. Also, if this place doesnt belong to you, there is the risk of misplacement or else.

This guarantee is, as already stated, to give you the option to come back on your decision to erase your ability to reproduce.

If you wanted to reproduce in 10 years for example, you'd want to find a quality woman. Such women will find frozen sperm to be a massive downer.

I've known a lot of gay men in my life and been good friends with a couple (some into their 50s) and I don't know a single one who regrets not having kids.

Now that may say more about homosexual lifestyle than it does about whether or not I'll regret having kids, but it's not a bad signifier.
