Have a personal creed and don't waver.
Have a mission
Don't just work towards that mission, live towards that mission and eliminate parts of your life that inhibit your progress towards your mission.
Produce more than you consume

These don't have to be complicated either. Example:

My creed is follow the golden rule and do no harm, being judicious about the battles I choose to fight and the ones I choose to walk away from.
My mission is pretty selfish but pretty honest: Build my career, build my musical skills, and participate in my sports as much as possible.
Live towards that mission: I make personal sacrifices. I don't watch TV and I don't waste much of my income on alcohol and partying. I don't stay out late partying because I have to be up early to tackle the next day. Sometimes that means saying no to friends, and sometimes it even means saying no to a lady that want's me to spend the night with her. Once I start making regular exceptions I risk letting my life getting driven by other people's whims and not by my own goals.
Produce more than you consume: I avoid debt because it makes us beholden to others. I learn music and perform. I participate in sports instead of just spectating. I teach others music and teach people the sports I know so that they can do the same with their lives.

being more specific would've prevented this post from being downvoted to zero. but in case this helps:

women have a lot of leeway in their lives, and men are held accountable for almost any poor interaction between men and women. i was upset about this for a while, but then i realized that as a child, i met children who were given so much leeway that they were demanding and had poor self-control.

did i want the leeway? yes.

did i want to be those children? no.

people lie to women all the time, to the point where it is socially unacceptable to speak the truth. as a man, you have the benefit of people pointing out your flaws without a second thought. what will kill you is believing what women believe--namely, that when someone expresses a negative opinion about you it means something real about you, and that you must be accepted at all cost.

you are a man. you won't be fully accepted for who you are. you don't need to be accepted for who you are. aleister crowley's book of law states "do what thou wilt is the whole of the law". the only universal law is you do your will. refine your will, and manifest it.
