Beta is the second letter of the greek alphabet (notice alpha bet[a]) , omega the last letter. Omega means being ultra mega super beta.

Alpha is the strongest male and pack leader. Beta, in animal packs, is the second in command, second strongest male, ready to take Alpha's place when he dies or grows old and weak.
Thus TRP's glossary is a bit flawed, because Betas here are seen as weaklings, disliked, the worse end of food chain. While in animal packs this is Omega.

Not absolutely accurate, but gives a basic idea what we're talking about. Additionaly, second picture introduces idea of pluses and minuses, which is really important for me.

User flairs to track progress to what? Reminds me of these "preggo calendars" some people set in their forum signatures. "Our beloved princess was born 5395 days ago and still counting".
"FuckSolidarity has made 531 comments on RP Network subreddits, got 2 endorsement points and total -35 karma points, which has earned him Gamma Negative status!". I've got no endorsements and somehow I don't see myself being an Omega Negative by the way.
Or are we going to be able to set our user flair ourselves? And everybody's just going to label themselves Alpha Positive and wear these flairs parading around like babboons with their shiny red butts. In their original usage for sexual dynamics, alpha meant a behavior that's sexually attractive, beta meant sexually neutral and omega meant sexually repulsive.

Like the term "Alpha," "Omega" is borrowed from animal taxonomy. The "Alpha" of the pack is the strongest male. In some species he hogs ALL the females, and is the only one allowed to breed.
The Omega is the weakest, and is at the bottom of the social hierarchy.
