What's the border line between alpha and beta?

I'd say the difference lies in the context and intention.

Alpha is strong and just reaches out to get what he desires. Beta is weak and resorts to manipulation and hidden contracts to manipulate others into giving him what he wants.

If you call a girl cute, because she is cute, and then close that topic, this is not beta behaviour. (but such flattery might be discouraged by some dating strategies)

If you call a girl cute, because you're flattering her in order to get her to like you, just so you can get laid, this is beta behaviour. And I can bet you my last pair of pants the girl will notice it and note it as creepy behaviour.

Summing things up, alphas influence by their presence, while betas influence by (poor) manipulation.

I tend not to compliment women on their general appearance because it is a slippery slope into being beta. A more specific compliment tends to be better since it shows your aware, doesn't transfer much power from you to them, and still makes them feel good.

Most betas wouldn't even compliment her on her looks anyway because that requires a bit of courage.

Anyway the context of the compliment is what matters.

you can easily imagine the difference between;

an attractive guy smirking while half seriously telling a girl " you're kind of cute" in a sly way.

and

a gross neck beard saying the same thing while making awkward eye contact and creeping her out.

I'm really not seeing one. Alpha's dominance looks like instinct and beta's need to find a strong leader and support that leader looks the same - instinct. I've never seen anyone converted from one to the other.

That being said it's perfectly reasonable for a smart alpha to feign the need for a leader temporarily.

And no, calling a girl cute or chasing her isn't beta. What's alpha is generally getting girls, a chase or being chased or a competition. What's beta is having the alpha do all the work and giving the women to the obedient betas who are supporters to that alpha.
