Guys, need some help!

About Myself: My self assessment would be that I am an alright looking person in my demographic (India) with a lean body (not lanky) and a bit of muscle. I carry a corporate look on my face. I belong to a good functionally working family with good house, cars, dogs, etc.

In social settings such as a classroom or public seminars, where I meet most of the women, I usually carry good insightful discussions on a lot of topics with a variety of people. I keep on making good jokes in between discussions and ensure everybody has a good time. I am able to grab a lot of attention and can come off as somebody well read and intelligent (or maybe intimidating?).

There, I am able to generate that initial interest in a lot of women (they try to support my points, laugh at my jokes, keep on looking at me, etc.), but somehow, I manage to screw everything up when I try to initiate the conversation.

For example, whenever I text them or directly talk to them, they end up not responding or take very little interest. This has happened multiple times. I have started to feel that I end up creeping them out. I have no problems whatsoever talking to anybody else (married, committed women, guys, etc.). They talk to me without any problems and gauging by the body language, are interested in whatever I have to say.

My question is why could that be and what can I do to improve my game? Do I end up making the women nervous? Or are those girls just looking for attention? Or do I creep them out? I am ready to accept that I am a plain loser and be willing to put in a lot of hours on something worthwhile than leave everything to fate.

I know I have to up my SMV in terms of looks and all (and am continuously working on it), but somehow, there is a missing link I need to fix.
